Hey everyone. I just wanted to say a big thanks to all of you who have bought my chocolate and/or donated money to Hope 4 kids! We have sold all but 6 bars of chocolate. That's 64 bars!!!

I am going to be getting Dad to buy some more for me to sell this coming week! Also, I will be depositing the money raised this week, so you should see the bar raise on the rampant website! It's all very exciting - and you're helping me to make a difference in the lives of many children around the world.

I am currently reading a briefings book, about Children in Crisis around our globe. It's a big issue, and something we are all responsible to do something about! It can sometimes feel like too big of a task - but when we give to World Vision and other aid organisations like them, we can begin to make a difference.

Fair Trade Chocolate

A few weeks ago I was looking though some ideas to fundraise for rampant.

I found this one idea that I thought was really cool which was to sell chocolate, then I discovered that trade aid sold their chocolate for fundraising.

Trade Aid chocolate is fair trade – so I decided to look at their website and found that it was true and that I could buy it for quite a reasonable price.

Trouble is, it would take forever to actually buy it even with help, so I asked dad to loan me some money and he said yes!

I was soo surprised – I was almost sure that he would say no. And a bonus – I get to put all of the profits towards my Rampant target.

The chocolate has just arrived and I will be selling it at my church this weekend. If anybody from my church is reading this it is two dollars a bar and it comes in milk and dark.

the generosity of my church community is overwhelming

As you may know, if you are looking at this blog, I am fund-raising for children at risk. But, you may not know that I have also decided to do the famine this year. The famine runs from Friday 16th March until Sunday 18th March.

I was a bit late at getting sponsors, having only started yesterday with $15 from my Nanny & Grampy, and wasn’t expecting to do better than last year. I fundraised $100 for the cause then, which I was really stoked about. This year I already have over double that amount!!!

WOW! Thanks to the generosity of all the people that my family knows. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You will be helping to make a difference in the lives of many children.

Here in New Zealand, we often take all these for granted. We simply expect to have clean water running from our taps; food to eat; a house to live in; access to education, and medicine when we are sick. We don’t really think about these things because they are so basic to us. However, millions of children around the world don’t have access to these basics, which means they have very poor quality of life, and sometimes can’t survive at all…But you can help!

Being aware of so many children’s basic needs is the first step – now it’s time to do something about it! You could:

* Register and do the 40 Hour Famine! Go without something you usually take for granted for a weekend, and ask people to sponsor you do it!
* Sponsor someone you know that is doing the Famine (ME!) :)
* Donate to a Famine fund-raising event
* Donate to “HOPE FOR KIDS”

The Famine is just one weekend for you but the money you raise will make a huge difference to the lives of many children. Spread the word - give basics, give life - and make a difference through the 40 Hour Famine.
